Hey guys… thanks so much for this resource…. I just found your podcasts while doing some research looking for design podcasts… saw design cuts… & yahhhh … i would like to add a quick thought… I don’t think it is wasted time when you are having a moment or brain fart… it is part of the process…. i think it’s a bit like mountain climbing or country driving sometimes you up in a dead end 0r a deep ravine & this is where you find the most amazing spots views & vistas… in a deep hole look up the stars are more visible.. just sharing & again thank you love Design cuts… & everything you do…kindest regards Tracy

I think the common thread for a sustaining “success” (whatever that may mean to you) is a combination of a sense of humor, collegiality, heart, and transparency. When there is transparency combined with a community-focused ethos and heck, just a genuine graciousness, it’s a win-win that stands the test of time, and it builds a fiercely loyal client base.
No matter how talented, if someone strives for that bigger-than-life facade by presenting only what they want people to see, it’s not sustainable for anyone. And yes, it really is toxic, as Ian said. Those folks I believe are extremely insecure, and it shows in ways that can be acidic, destructive, and foster inflexible thinking.
And isn’t everything we do really about connecting on some accessible level?
And Lisa, just wondering, is that a portrait of Emily Dickinson behind you?
