The Creative Journey is a unique insight into how to build a creative business from scratch. Follow along as Jo Fallon shows the Design Cuts community the ups and downs of starting her business The Cotswold Chalkboard.

In episode 14 Jo talks about correcting mistakes and confesses that she added the wrong date on a chalkboard she’s designed last week and feeling a bit embarrassed by it as the error is not only on the chalkboard but also on web and social media graphics. Hopefully the owners will appreciate Jo taking the time out of her busy schedule and going out of her way to correct the mistake and she will be able to redeem herself.

Jo mentions that she got to the point where she had to refuse some projects as she is getting very busy with work at the moment. She did say yes to a new project to design a chalkboard menu for the River Cafe owners, which heard about Jo’s great work from Instagram. This made Jo plan to use Instagram even more in her marketing strategy as this seems to be working very well for building up her business.

For the chalkboard, Jo is planning to add some Japanese lettering as the area is very popular with Japanese tourists and it will add value for the business. We also get to hear Jo speak a bit of Japanese on the phone – we have no idea what it means but it sounds great Jo ?

Jo ends the episode with a sneak peek of the flourishes she’s drawing for the Design Cuts product – which we think are starting to look great.
