We’ve teamed up with one of our favourite designers, Lisa Glanz, to bring the Design Cuts community a brand new whimsical font called Salt and Pepper.
To celebrate the launch, Lisa has kindly put together a video tutorial and freebie pack for you to enjoy.
Salt and Pepper includes a beautiful hand-drawn aesthetic, 60+ bonus illustrations, lots of language support, glyphs, stylistic alternates, ornaments and all the other lovely extras that every good font geek appreciates!

Lisa…What a nice surprise to hear a friendly South African voice! :) loved seeing this tutorial, and doing a bit of a google stalk of all your amazing work! Love it all! Thanks for this tutorial!
Hey Maria,
Thanks for the comment on the tutorial and we are so pleased you are enjoying it!
How lovely is Lisa’s accent? I find it really soothing :). I hope you love the new font now that it is live!
Hi Maria,
Are you South African yourself? We do have a pretty odd accent with a mixture of everything in it! :) Glad you enjoyed the tutorial! You made me laugh with the google stalk comment :) !! Thanks so much Maria, hope you like the new font.
LOVE!!! Thanks for the tutorial – very sweet:)
Hey Michelle,
Thanks for the feedback and we are so pleased you enjoyed it! Please do feel free to share your end design if you were keen :).
Nice breezy tutorial! So fast, I missed how you trimmed the design elements than went over the edge of the artboard. Help!!
Looking forward to the release.
Thanks.
Hi Thomas,
Sorry, I should have mentioned how I did that! I like to clip objects to the artboard size once I’m done designing, I’m a bit of a neat-freak that way :)
So how you would do that is create a shape with the rectangular tool the same size and placement of your artboard – this will be your container for all the objects. Select the objects you want to clip and send them behind the rectangular shape – best to group your objects at this stage. Now select the objects plus the rectangular shape (which should now be on top of your objects) and go Menu > Clipping Mask > Make. The clipping mask will always clip to the object that’s on top, so you can create more complex shapes and clip artwork inside that shape as long as it’s on top.
Hope that helps! If you have any other questions at all, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
Hello Madam!
I am really feeling warm to meet you in this regard, I got the same doubt as thomas raised! But am happy with that clarification that you provided here!
But please answer to me that why all the designers are going for retro, vintage designs?
I know that there is a very big reason!
Thank You in Advance!
Lisa is just amazing! Love her work!
We totally agree Ksenia!
We really hope you love the font when it is released later today :)
Thank you so much Ksenia, I really appreciate that!
