The Creative Journey is a unique insight into how to build a creative business from scratch. Follow along as Jo Fallon shows the Design Cuts community the ups and downs of starting her business The Cotswold Chalkboard.
Jo starts the new episode with showing us a very cool trick of creating a texture by using left over chalk powder and scanning this into the computer. Also, we get to see a very cute star chalk pattern that she has created for the DC pack.
It’s been a some time since we’ve seen Jo’s vlog and this episode covers some old footage as well as some more recent filming. Jo reveals she’s been struggling with work and finishing the Design Cuts project and realised that the deadline just wasn’t manageable as she started the pack too late and misanticipated how long it will take to create all the elements needed. After discussing this with Tom and Lizzy, they all agreed to postpone the launch of the product until January 2018.
Postponing the project will allow Jo to work at a more normal pace and also ensure she’s able to have a social life and enjoy her work. This also means that she will have time to give this product the attention it needs and launch a product that she is proud off.
In the meantime, Jo has also been doing some of her more regular work, to maintain a steady income, and we can see her working on some Christmas boards and updating menu boards at the local cafes and pubs.
