The Creative Journey is a unique insight into how to build a creative business from scratch. Follow along as Jo Fallon shows the Design Cuts community the ups and downs of starting her business The Cotswold Chalkboard.

Jo’s back with another episode of The Creative Journey, and she catches us up on the work she’s done for the past week, and tell us she’s already thinking about Christmas work. Even though it’s only July, in the hospitality and signage business, work needs to be agreed and planned months ahead.

After having a some work refused due to the clients thinking her cost are too high, Jo came to ask herself if she would rather do cheap work or good work, and decided to focus on people who really appreciate the quality of her work.

Jo ends this week’s episode with a confession that this period hasn’t been so great for her and she needed some time for herself. She went to a friend’s barbecue where she meet a potential client who’d like some work done at their butcher’s shop, so Jo emphasizes the importance of taking time off work as this can lead to new work opportunities.
