In this video, we’ll be walking you through all there is to know about SVG fonts in Illustrator and Photoshop. We’ll be using two products from the Design Cuts marketplace – Opulent + SVG Font and The Game – SVG Color Font.

SVG fonts are a new version of an Open Type format and contain things that fonts have never been able to contain, like transparency and colour information. They work fantastically for fonts that resemble brush strokes and contain semi-transparent areas.

Though they behave like regular fonts, SVGs won’t react to our usual font tools. For this reason, we’ll show you how to play around with transparency masks (to recolour your text), hue saturation adjustment layers, and colour/gradient overlays. We’ll also guide you to the glyphs panel where you’ll be able to access all the font’s stylistic alternates. If you’re ready to test out your SVG fonts, let’s get started!
