Grid Builder – Layout Composer

Creating stunning lettering layouts has never been easier!

Grid Builder – Layout Composer

Something that I struggle with and I know you guys do to, is laying out a great composition within your lettering work. You have the quote or words you want to use, you know the style, but you just get stuck with how to lay it out, so it doesn’t look like letters just thrown onto a page.

So together (Stefan Kunz and myself) we thought about how we could produce something that could make this process as easy as possible, but still giving you guys the tools to create completely unique pieces of art.

That’s when we came up with Grid Builder. A set of 35 individual grid shapes that you can place together to act as guides when creating your layouts. They can be resized, stretched and recolored so that every layout you compose will look completely different from the next.

What’s more, they work in nearly all of the top lettering programs. Brushes in Procreate, Custom Shapes & Brushes in Adobe Photoshop and drag & drop Symbols in Adobe Illustrator. So whether you have an iPad, Surface, Wacom or Desktop Computer there is an option that can work for you.

Want to use it with your pens and pencils? No problem, compose them in one of the above programs and print it off!

Want to use it in a program not listed below? Use the Grid Builder font in apps like Keynote, Powerpoint, CorelDraw, Canva, anything that has the access to fonts.

Included in this set:

• 35 x Procreate Brushes
• 35 x Adobe Photoshop Brushes / Custom Shapes

How does this work in Affinity Designer/Photo?
    Is there a tutorial video?
I’m very interested but have seen many programs that say they work with AFD but do not.
    Thanks

      Hey Scoot,

Thanks so much for leaving us a comment.

I am really sorry for any confusion caused. The Grid builder has been listed as compatible with Affinity by Ian Barnard, he has also included an Installation guide, however, unfortunately not a user guide. Rest assured though, you can find lots of helpful Grid Builder tutorials on our YouTube channel!

Please note as well, should you find this product does not work for you, we always offer a full refund within 30 days of your purchase. We also offer continuous support to our community, so if you need any help finding how to use/do something with you product -just pop us an email at hello@designcuts.com and we will be happy to help :)

      Hey Mattio,

Ian has actually included installation guides for each of the different design software that this pack will work in, so you should find a handy PDF in your Illustrator folder to guide you through the installation process. If you do get stuck at all however Mattio, please do feel free to reach out to our support team anytime, and we will always be happy to help :).

hey! maybe this is a silly question but I’m a newbie… I’ve purchased the pack and I’m super excited to use it in photoshop… but how do I install it on my photoshop? and also, is everything included for photoshop or just certain bits? if so, what’s included in photoshop? I was also wondering how to install on other platforms for future reference… maybe I’m missing something here but I have no idea! sorry to be a hassle!

      Hey Maya,

Thanks so much for reaching out to us and rest assured, you are not a hassle at all!

So Ian, the designer has super kindly provided these elements in different file formats so that they should work in most design software. These are organised into folders so you should be able to find all that you need in your Photoshop folder.

In each folder, Ian has included instructions for installing and working with these elements, so these should be able to help get you up and running, however if you do get stuck, or have any queries about working with it, please let us know and we can definitely help!

Procreate version doesn’t work properly. Can’t download file have to go in and import them individually. Very frustrating and some of them won’t import. -_- love the concept, just would like it to work
