Cahier de Botanique

Discover the delightful whimsy and versatility of this unique collection of vintage French ephemera papers, overlays and graphics.

I discovered this vintage French notebook (cahier) while rummaging through boxes of old papers and books in a junk shop in France. The notebook, penned by a French school boy early in the 20th century, includes handwritten notes on botany (botanique) with drawings of plants, flowers, and seeds. The botanical drawings are carefully executed with the charming naivety of a student.

The book pages were scanned professionally at 600 ppi and the pages extracted and saved with transparent backgrounds. The original scans have a delicious “Kiss of Time” with mellowed tones, gentle scuffs, marks, and torn edges. 2 blank notebook pages are also included.
