AD Brutus Symmetry (PS CC+ Panel)
AD Brutus Symmetry is a Photoshop CC & CC 2014 & CC 2015 panel that provides tools to work with -almost- realtime symmetry.
Brutus is Addictive! It’s awesome for character design and fantastic for brainstorming.
Until Adobe makes Photoshop realtime symmetry possible, this tool is the closest you can get. It basically uses Photoshop guides (vertical and horizontal) as axis for the symmetry. It’s not limited to guides, it also works with selections. It’s even quicker to use if you assign shortcuts to the main functions.
Brutus also includes another fantastic technique to draw or paint with symmetry in Photoshop, in this case the symmetry is generated with mirrored smart layers that are set up for you to use with one click.
While working with Brutus you can use the last two buttons to save your active layer as a PNG or to save the whole merged file as PNG. Expect no dialogues and no distraction. Just by clicking once, you will have a high quality screenshot of your artwork saved in a folder, including the date, hour and the name. If the document is an unsaved PSD the screenshots are saved in a new folder on your Desktop. If you’re working on a saved PSD the screenshots will be saved in a folder next to that PSD.

QUESTION ~ Brutus Symmetry
Can you confirm what versions of Photoshop Brutus Symmetry works with? I have that being questioned.
– I first thought it would work with Photoshop CC, then I read that there were intsallers for CC2014 and CC2015 included.
So does Brutus Symmetry work with ALL 3 of them? Photoshop CC, CC2014 and CC2015 OR just PS CC2014 and CC2015? If not, can you please specify which version(s) of Photoshop are needed?

The only drawback with CC2015 is that the Kaleidograph will not work until Adobe solves some details with the new scripting engine, but as that function is not the main target of the panel I guess its not a real problem.
I’ve started to work on a version for CS6, I can’t say yet when it will be available but is coming.

I’m not sure if this question would be answered by Alex or by DesignCut: Once the CS6 version is done will this bundle updated for that? We’re also among those who refuse to sell their mortgage to Adobe. (Not to say CC doesn’t have any worthwhile features, but you know what I’m getting at.)

I, for one would never tell anyone how to spend their money, but for me, it’s worth the $9.99 monthly fee to have the current Photoshop version. It also comes with Lightroom FREE (included for the same $9.99) which would be at least $100 upgrade each time Lightroom is upgraded.
It cost us more to upgrade to the new Photoshop Versions than maintaining the Photographer’s monthly plan for $9.99 a month!

No offense taken and if the subscription works for you well that’s good. For me, I am made very uncomfortable by being put in a situation where, at just about any time they want, a supplier can increase the price of their product to me and I either have to pay whatever price they set or walk away from the program, all the files I’ve created using that program, all the expertise I’ve gained in that program, as well as any actions, presets or styles I’ve developed or purchased based on that program.

I still use my master edition of CS4 which I bought when I started up. I hate the idea of MORE monthly payments. I kinda like how I bought it once and that’s that. Not even paying yearly solves that issue.
A fair few items on this deal I couldn’t use due to the age of my PS. Eventually I’m sure I will have to upgrade but still managing to hold off!
I even spoke to Adobe to query if they have a package with just PS and AI as they are my most used programs. I don’t want to have to buy 2x single apps (or the photography package and a single app) as they both come with stuff I don’t even want… pro-site, typekit, storage, lightroom etc. It’s stupid that they don’t have a mix and match option. Adobe are trying to be forward thinking and with the times yet they are so behind at the same time. The fella on the chat tried to get a deal and free trial which was apparently ‘just for me’ but he just took the single app + photography deal… and said I’d have a 14 day free trial ‘just for me’ lol. I was born yesterday obviously!

I don’t have CC 2015 installed as I heard the installation disables prior versions of Photoshop and I did not want to take that chance right now.

With the exception of Acrobat and Muse, CC 2015 will only remove older versions if you don’t uncheck that option during the install process. If you forget, you can always reinstall older versions at any time.

I’ll read the article that Julie referenced above, so I can see where that box is to UN-check when installing. I have NOT allowed Adobe into my computer since PS CC2015 launched. I realize that is a bit paranoid, but I felt until I got the right info, I did not need it anyway.
I’m only interested in installing PS CC2014 on my desktop. I’ll wait for CC 2015, I don’t always need the latest and greatest. There are always changes and for now I am not sure I need those changes.
I know that some of my members are having issues with installation. Some had their programs disabled, others had issues with plugins. I don’t have full stories, so just kept away from it myself as I was not ready for issues if I could avoid them.

@ Roz Fruchtman – you can have Photoshop CC2014 and 2015 both installed. I have both installed since some of my addins only work in 2014, but i want the updated features in 2015. They work just find along each other, no conflict. You can install previous versions in the CC manager all the way at the bottom Find Additional Apps > All apps, ” View previous versions” in the dropdown menu. Et Voila!

Hi Carrie,
from Photoshop CC2015 onwards, Adobe’s engineers have introduced the new ‘Mondo’ rendering engine for ScriptUI dialogs, wich is used also for filters and plug-ins.
Actually, any script that opens a script UI window (when called from an extension / panel) will crash PS, and that’s exactly what happens using the Kaleidograph button in PS CC2015 so to avoid that ugly experience I disabled the button.
Engineers were notified about this issue so I pray for an update that fixes this bug, but who knows when… :-/
