Noctis

15 ways to own the typographic catwalk.

Noctis was originally born as a single weight display typeface, designed by Luca Terzo who took inspiration by the unusual wedge serifs of Aldo Novarese’s 1972 typeface for H. Berthold A.G., Primate. The design was developed by the Italian Type team into a full family of five weights from thin, each with its own true italic, and with a complementary set of decorative patterns.

The strong didonesque contrasts make this typeface both impressive at display sizes and easily readable in text size, while the sharp shapes of the triangular serifs and the distinctive letter shapes show their strength in logo design and impressive editorial use.

Inspired by the elegant, self conscious and over-the-top aesthetics of Italian fashion scene of the eighties and nineties, Noctis finds its strength in its strong textural nature, that is explored in the Noctis Texturae subfamily, where each letter is used as a tile to produce seamless patterns that can be used to extend the branding capabilities of Noctis.

Noctis features an extended latin character set of 481 glyphs covering over 190 languages, and includes advanced open type features like standard and discretionary ligatures, positional numerals, stylistic alternates and case sensitive brackets. Mixing versatility and personality, Noctis is ready to be like a top model on the design catwalk, making your projects looking classic but contemporary, finely tuned but assertive, and elegant as the best Italian luxury fashion.

Spitzkant

Spitzkant is a serif typeface family that is characterised by strong contrasts. Pointed, sharp serifs and edges contrast with round and fine forms, making it very individual and expressive.

Spitzkant is particularly suitable for branding, editorial, packaging and advertising. The high-contrast display version has been complemented by a lower-contrast text version, making Spitzkant in combination suitable for both strong headlines and extensive body text. An allrounder that can be used for many purposes.

Features:
The Spitzkant head and text family has a total of 2 optical sizes, 5 weights and 20 styles, from thin to bold and matching italics. With over 850 characters, it covers over 200 Latin-based languages. It also has an extended set of currency symbols and a whole range of open type features. For example, there are alternative characters as stylistic sets, small caps, automatic fractions and many other features.

Ligatures:
Especially the extensive selection of ligatures (standard and optional) is a special feature which was an important part during the design process. With over 95 different ligatures there are many possibilities to give headlines and logos an individual touch.

Included in this set:

  • 2 optical sizes
  • 5 weights
  • 20 styles
  • 850+ glyphs per style
  • 200+ latin-based languages
  • 95+ ligatures

Please note that Stylistic Alternates will require professional design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign or Inkscape.

Zuume Soft

Zuume Soft is a high-impact, condensed sans serif, display font family with a soft touch.

A sister to Zuume, this version features round corners for a little bit of a friendly appearance. Coming in multiple weights and italics, its range in thickness give a sharp, technical feel in the lighter weights, while the bold, blacker weights are meant to be tightly spaced and stacked for a visual punch.

A distinct characteristic of this all caps typeface is the notched and extended ink traps meant for both function and aesthetic interest. The strong and sturdy design makes it ideal for eye-catching headlines, branding, packaging, magazines, sports, logos, and more.

Also part of each font file are matching pre-designed catchwords that add texture to your typography. Stylistic alternates and arrow glyphs increase the options available as well.

Included in this set:

  • 16 fonts (extra light through black weights with italics)
  • Extensive multilingual Latin language support
  • Catchword glyphs (PUA-encoded)
  • Stylistic alternates
  • Arrows
  • Fractions, numerators, denominators
  • Superscript, subscript
  • Slashed zero

Please note that Stylistic Alternates will require professional design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign or Inkscape.

Zetafonts

Eastman

A geometric sans workhorse family.

Eastman was designed in 2020 for Zetafonts by Francesco Canovaro and Andrea Tartarelli with help from Solenn Bordeau. It is a geometric sans workhorse family developed for maximum versatility both in display and text use, with a wide weight range and a solid monolinear design featuring a tall x-height that makes Eastman extremely readable on paper and on the screen.

Influenced by Bauhaus ideals and contemporary minimalism, but with a nod to the pragmatic nature 19th century grotesques, Eastman has been developed as a highly reliable tool for design problem solving, and given all the features a graphic designer needs – from a wide language coverage (thanks to over one thousand and two hundred latin, Cyrillic and Greek characters) to a complete set of open type features (including small capitals, positional numbers, case sensitive forms).

An impressive array of alternate characters and stylistic sets allows to fine-tune your editorial and branding design by choosing unique, logo-ready variant letter shapes. The twenty weights of the base family have been complemented by a display-oriented alternate family, bringing the full family to an impressive count of 41 fonts. Eastman excels in both body text, headings and word marks and it is your new option for a universal geometric grotesque.

Included in this set:

  • .TTF and .OTF files
  • Special characters, accents, ligatures
  • Lowercase, uppercase, numbers
  • Opentype features: positional numerals, alternate forms, and extended ligatures

Please note that Stylistic Alternates will require professional design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign or Inkscape.

Language Support: English, Cyrillic, Greek

The great news is that fonts are a super versatile resource and can work in all design-based software, once they are installed onto your device. If you are at all unsure about how to install fonts, we have a handy tutorial in our FAQ section that should be able to help: https://bit.ly/3gxLfAu

I have way too many fonts already. I don’t need another font bundle. Oh, who am I kidding? I have an insatiable appetite for new fonts. This bundle has some great ones – Mangueira, Paneuropa Nova, Zuume Soft, Noyh Geometric Slim and Allrounder Antiqua.

When I first saw Eastman, I was very tempted to buy it at the $57 introductory price. But I held off and now it’s $228. Lo and behold, here it is in the latest Design Cuts bundle – well worth $29 for Eastman alone! Thanks for another great bundle, DC!

      Hey Pete,

It is awesome to hear that this bundle contains so many standout fonts for you, and even helps to cross Eastman off your wishlist :).

I hope that you get great use out of all of your new fonts, and please feel free to share your creations with us – we would love to see what you create with them!

For me the Eastman is also the favorite here. But as I see, it doesn’t support Czech language :( So useless for me. But with this support I would buy this bundle because of this font only :)

Oh no, we are sorry that Eastman does not currently support Czech for you Tomas!

We do always try to include a variety of fonts in our bundles that support different languages so my apologies if this particular collection is not perfectly you!

We really appreciate you taking the time to comment and we will certainly use your feedback to help better cater our deals towards our community’s needs :)

Great to see so many serif typefaces!
Do Quieta and Noctis support other languages than English? You have listed only one language, I’ve checked Italiantype’s website and there are more.

    • Annabel Smith

Thank you so much for commenting Barbara!

The language compatibility comes directly from the designer so we are unable to fully confirm if these fonts support other languages. We will happily double-check this with the designer so that we can ensure that the font information provided is as detailed as possible :).

    • Jan-Christoph Ihrens

Yes, both families support a bunch of languages. They even have an uppercase German eszett implemented (for text in caps – this character has been added in 2008, if I remember correctly, and it’s not mandatory; there is no word starting with ß, so normally normally SS is used instead of the uppercase ẞ) – this is a good indicator for font faces that are equipped with quite a bunch of glyphs for many latin-based languages.

Quieta has 641 glyphs (the italics even have 41 more), Noctis has 481 glyphs (the italics one more), so it should be the versions you found on the foundry’s website.

Yeah, wasn’t so much they were bad, just nothing recently to “wow” me enough to spend out… even though they’re such bargains. Just a bit ‘samey’ for me I guess. Some nice type here though, so more than likely you’ll get my money again. (And very pleased there’s not a brush script in sight!!)

I would just echo what the others have said. Some of the font bundles lately have lacked a bit of wow factor, even if the collection names have changed. They are all very nice, however there is a sense of deja vu quite often when the email hits my inbox.

I’ve purchased five font bundles in less than a year and a few graphic bundles. Much of it was exactly what I wanted at the time, but I wouldn’t be upset if you did something really different and surprised us. On the graphics side I think there is a limit to floral watercolor designs as well.

We do aim to always include new products in our bundles so you should not see any repeats of items, however my apologies if you feel that some of our latest deals have been a little similar lately. If there are any particular resources or designers that you would really love to see featured in a future deal, please do let us know as our bundles are usually made up of a majority of product suggestions and requests that we have received from our other community members – we would love to be able to include some of your wishlist items too :).
