The Creative Journey is a unique insight into how to build a creative business from scratch. Follow along as Jo Fallon shows the Design Cuts community the ups and downs of starting her business The Cotswold Chalkboard.

Just as the title says, Jo had a very tough week this past week. Jo’s work, like most people’s in the UK had been put on halt due to the adverse weather conditions in the UK. ❄️?

The heavy snow forced Jo to postpone scheduled client’s meetings and getting started on the big board for the Mercedes Mechanics sign, as it would have been too cold for her to design the board in their workshop.

Luckily Jo could get her final design laid out on drafting paper ahead of the actual work on the board, which means that not only will this make her job much easier when she gets to drawing part but it will also ensure that the design is well balanced and looks professional.

Jo admits that this hasn’t been a very productive week for her. We’ve all felt a bit under the weather here in the UK, as it’s been a very long winter and the lack of sun drained the energy out of most of us. Although she loves her creative design work, she wants to be honest with her viewers and admits there will be moments like this when you feel down and as a freelancer this will directly impact your work. Hang in there Jo, this too shall pass and you have a new week ahead and you can have a fresh start! ?
