VectorFuzz Illustrator Sponge Scatter Brushes

Over the past 18 months I’ve collected dozens of sponge brushes, acrylics, inks and papers.

This pack of 32 sponge scatter brushes was sourced from these hundreds of samples over the past 18 months.

Here’s the process each texture went through:

• Created sponge textures using real sponges, inks and paints
• Scanned textures into my MacBook
• Converted to vectors using VectorMagic, my favourite vector creation software

In the past whenever I want to add textures to my type or lettering I always default to Photoshop, just because it’s so easy and quick to do. I’ve never got on with masks in Illustrator and hi-res textures just slow my Mac down. AquaType – Vector Watercolor Effects

Using the technology behind my hugely successful product VectorPress, I’ve managed the impossible. By that I mean, getting realistic watercolor effects in Illustrator. All you have to do is choose 1 of the 20 watercolor textures, click play and you’re done. It’s literally that easy.

The effect also adds inconsistent edges to the type, like you would get when working the paint to the edge of the water. At the same time, it adds a handwritten look to any font, which can be easily turned off if you’re already working with hand-drawn type.
