This tutorial is right up my alley. One of my friends sister’s works for the circus and she asks me to do small projects for them sometimes. The first project I did for them was an outdoor banner design. My friend’s sister emailed me a sketch of how they wanted the banner to look and showed me what colors should go where. I added everything they wanted to the banner, but it didn’t look happy and inviting, so I made it look a little 3D and added a diamond pattern Photoshop shape to the main background of the banner and the banner finally looked like it was saying come to the circus and have a good time. I saw how Matt made his own starburst element in the tutorial and that made me think of how I could have made my own diamond pattern, but I think I would have been on the verge of pulling my hair out if I would have tried that. Matt has some serious patience. lol I think the font bundle has some great fonts that go well with a circus theme. I wish I would have seen those a few months ago. If I ever need to make a poster for the circus, I will definitely come back to this tutorial and get some tips. Thank you for the tutorial Matt! Your first Design Cuts tutorial was a good one. It was easy to understand and you didn’t come across as robotic. You should see one of my first tutorials, I think I came across as robotic, overwhelmed, and trying to pack too much info into one tutorial. lol
It’s great to have some feedback and I’m really glad you enjoyed the tutorial. It was hard to judge how much detail to go into, I didn’t want to say, press this .. click that .. it could have taken forever :o :)
I’ve already got my thinking cap on for the next one, as I work a lot with brand design and commercial artwork I was thinking of maybe a brand design tutorial – or a book cover or similar (if the latter then complete with tips for how to get it ready for print, PDF settings, colours, crop marks etc).
Thanks for the deal DC! This is the first purchase for me and I am sure I will be coming back for MORE! I wish there were sites like this when I started my career back in 1995! Yes, an old dog learning new tricks! LOL
You’re so welcome Michael, we hope that you love your new fonts. :) I know what you mean, I could have done with more quality resources back when I was starting out. Hopefully these will have a great impact upon your work. They’ve certainly helped all of us in our regular work.
Absolutely Jin! You only may not resell the fonts directly (i.e.: as font files). We’d love to check out your clothing design work. Please feel free to send us a link.
Are you absolutely sure? I was going to buy this bundle for the exact same purpose, but when I check the “View Deal License Here” link, the following is copied directly from the site:
“The SimpleLicense gives you the right to use any item purchased on Creative Market in a personal or commercial project for yourself or a client, but the item cannot be resold or redistributed on its own, or used in a product offered for sale where the item contributes to the core value of the product being sold.”
To me, that eliminates the possibility of using the fonts on a garment to be resold, ESPECIALLY if the garment is a Font based design….
Can we get positively, without-a-shadow-of-a-doubt clarification and conformation on this, because this is the only thing holding me back from pulling the trigger on this…
This license only applies to purchases via Creative Market, but at Design Cuts we always negotiate a special extended license with all the designers we work with.
So as long as you purchased the bundle through us, you will be able to use the resources commercially, as explained by Tom.
I’ll send you some more details on that as well now.
