The Artifex Forge is giving this and other useful resources for free in a bid to help designers and illustrators who have been hit financially by COVID-19.
Create beautifully textured designs and streamline the design process!
Does this sound familiar? You’ve found some great looking textures but when you start to use them, you find they’re just too small! So you try up-scaling… but it doesn’t look right. You try tiling them… but it looks messy. The Artifex Forge is here to solve your design woes with these tremendous tileable textures!
They are super user-friendly as I’ve worked hard to convert each texture into a repeat pattern, which you can use to flood areas with just the click of a button. This means no more time wasted in trying to get textures to fit, no more unsightly edges and so no more compromises in your designs. These pattern textures are perfect for adding instant interest, depth, and detail to your projects.
I see texture everywhere I go and am constantly capturing it for use in my design and illustration work. I thought it was only fair to share the best and most interesting textures from my extensive personal library. I’ve included classic textures such as rust, paint, and wood as well as some more unusual ones like marble and hessian. Check out the final screen-shot for the full broad range.
To use them simply select a vector shape, or a piece of text, and click on a swatch. You can then easily rotate, scale or adjust the color to suit your design needs. I’ve supplied comprehensive instructions on how to do all of this.
Included in this set:
- The Patterns – Eighteen original repeat pattern swatches.
- Example files – A selection of the preview images. Use these to see how I achieved the look (these examples are compatible with Illustrator CS5 – CC only).
- Instructions – A very thorough guide on how to load, apply and then adjust the patterns is supplied.
Zipped File Size: 203 MB
File Types Included: .AI, .TXT, .PDF

Hello,
I wrote earlier about a problem accessing these textures. I somehow managed to work it out, but now that I go back to use them, the textures are nowhere to be seen and I’ve no idea how I managed it previously.
The textures do not appear in the swatches panel. There seems to be nothing to add to the swatches panel. Here is the problem:
I’m using CS6. When I download the files, I see two folders — one for CC and one for CS1-6. In the folder for CS1-6, there are only two files. They are both eps files with a message saying “the textures will appear in the swatches panel”. There are no .ai files, no actual texture files, example files or instruction files.
Could you help me with this please?
Thanks,
Robyn

Hey Robin, Thanks for getting back to me and I am so sorry to hear that you may be having trouble accessing your resources. I have just popped you an email to help further :)
Robyn –
Once again, Design Cuts saves the day! Thanks very much, Zack, that’s sorted it. One note for anyone else — I had to change the file name to be able to save the swatches, but then all was well. Thanks again!
Zack Parks –
Thanks Robyn and thank you for sharing you solution to everyone :)
We hope you enjoy working with your resources!

Hello,
I love the look of these textures and can’t wait to try them.
Unfortunately, they’re not working for me. I’m using CS6. When I download the files, I see two folders — one for CC and one for CS1-6. In the folder for CS1-6, there are only two files. They are both eps files with a message saying “the textures will appear in the swatches panel”. There are no actual texture files, example files or instruction files. Am I missing something?
Could you help me with this please?
Thanks very much in advance,
Robyn

Thank you so much for commenting Robyn- rest assured I can certainly guide you through the steps of importing pattern swatches into your swatches panel in Photoshop. The process can be slightly different depending on the version of Photoshop you are working in, as this is usually done via your Tool Presets or Swatches tabs. Rest assured though Robyn, I have just reached out to you via email to be able to help you further with this.

Thank you, Annabel,
It was my mistake and I’ve worked it out now. I’m sorry for the trouble, but thank you very much, as always, for your readiness to help. I appreciate it very much — it really sets Design Cuts far and above the rest!
Best for now,
Robyn
